I’ve been experimenting with all kinds of sourdough recipes since starting my SD (sourdough) starter almost a month ago. Here’s a few of the things we’ve enjoyed making, recipes coming soon 🙂
-SD Garlic Bites
– SD Pizza Crust
-SD Blueberry muffins
-SD ‘drop’ biscuits
We’ve really enjoyed all of these but I have to say these Pancakes are our favorite, although the Pizza Crust is a very close second!
You can double this batch and have them all week for breakfast! Once completely cool store them in a container or zip lock bag, they heat up really well in the toaster oven. We use the bake setting and heat them 3-5 mins until slightly toasted.
Sourdough is kind of a big deal for us – for two reasons. 1) Our daughter has a hard time digesting grains. She gets headaches, joint aches and tummy troubles. The only way we’ve found to avoid this is to follow a traditional food diet, which leads us to #2) Properly prepare grains by soaking, sprouting or fermenting them. Since sourdough is fermented and we love it I feel like we’ve hit the bread jackpot 😉
Easy Sourdough Pancakes
2 cups sourdough starter, room temp
2 tbsp honey or organic sugar
1/2 tsp salt
4 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp warm water
In a large bowl mix first 5 ingredients and set aside. In a small bowl combine baking soda and warm water. Once the griddle is hot and ready to go add the baking soda/water mixture to the batter by stirring gently.
Add 1/3 cup of batter to hot griddle at the time
Enjoy with my Simple Strawberry Syrup!
