We try to eat grain free for our digestive systems sake or we properly prepare our grains by soaking, sprouting or fermenting. We started in this journey because our daughter’s body actually has a reaction when she eats either too many unprepared grains OR there’s something in commercially produced breads that doesn’t agree with her. We aren’t sure which but we do know after some simple changes she feels great! She used to physically hurt in her joints, had multiply headaches a week and some stomach pains occasionally. Here we are today supporting her digestive system with enzymes, probiotics and Ningxia Red from Young Living, eating real foods and cooking from scratch at home together and feel great! It’s much more economical and fun to do it ourselves and this beauty of a recipe no different!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- 4 large eggs (from a local friend preferable or organic free-range store bought)
- 1 cup unsweetened cacao powder
- 3/4 cup of maple syrup
- ¼ cup + 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp salt
Blend all ingredients together until smooth (we used our Ninja Blender) and pour into a 8×8 glass pan greased with a thin layer of butter and bake for 35 mins.
For a yummy addition I like to add 4-5 drops of Young Living Peppermint oil to the batter before baking also, they are always a hit no matter how many times I’ve served them!
The top of ours looked done and had cracked a little from cooking. The edges were beginning to pull apart from the sides some also. Depending on oven temps you may have to adjust your time accordingly.
Enjoy warm with a glass of raw milk or for a real treat top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
I got the original recipe from my friend Lindsey at Homemademommy.net. Here’s her original post.
